Our sincere apologies for not bringing you up-to-date sooner! As anyone who has ever moved cross country knows, things do not always unfold as planned.
To make a long story short, I can only say that I am glad that everything is behind us and we can once again focus on building the business for the future. It certainly has been a learning experience, some highs, some disappointments which upon reflection, I think will make us a stronger company as we move forward.
My wife, Suruchi, and I are looking forward to a relaxing holiday break with our young son, soon to be three years old in January.
Since June we have accomplished many things:
1. Renovated our office and built a condo.
2. Helped settle some employees that moved from Saskatoon to Kingston.
3. Set up our US warehouse in Wellesley Island, NY just 30 minutes from Kingston.
4. Re-thought our existing membership program. We have decided to the phase out the Ultimate, Titanium, and Platinum Memberships, replacing these with the Exclusive Area Distributor (EAD) program. For an update on this program, please click here.
5. To manage the EAD program, we hired an EAD Director, Mark Reder, who is based out of Detroit, MI.
6. Brought on one of our top producing Distributors, Mary-Ellen Tessier, as our Marketing Director. Mike, her husband, is our Logistics Director. Together, they have invested in the company and are shareholders.
7. Held our first Training/EAD conference in October. It was a resounding success, we are planning to hold one in Detroit, MI this January, full details to be released shortly.
8. Developed a new tea opportunity, Healthy Cup Dot Com that allows anyone to earn profits from specialty tea for little or no up front cost. For more details, please click here.
2007 has been a challenging year for the company because of all the changes that have occurred. Despite these challenges, I am delighted at all that has been accomplished and particularly pleased with TEAm Connexions, one of the strongest we have ever had.
TEAm Connexions are very excited about the future and look forward to 2008 and beyond!

The federal organization recently recognized tea as a contributor to good health. The result of an extensive review, Health Canada has now recognized black, green and oolong teas as a source of antioxidants, alertness aids, and as an aid to maintain or support cardiovascular health. Combined with a healthy diet and exercise, Green tea extract has been approved for use in a weight management program. These Health Canada rulings come after mounting scientific evidence over a period of 20 years. The recognition of these health benefits will enable manufacturers to include the approved claims on product packaging and advertising. - - - top

3. More Tea Beauty Tips A study recently published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, suggests that tea drinkers may have a lower risk of getting the two most common forms of skin cancer. In a study that followed 2200 adults, those who consumed one or more cups of tea daily, had were 20-30 percent less likely to develop the most common types of skin cancer, squamous or basal cell carcinoma. That 20-30 percent increased for those who had regularly consumed tea over a long period of time.
The study back up findings that tea antioxidants may limit UV radiation damage to the skin according to the study authors, Dr. Judy R. Rees of Dartmouth Medical School in Lebanon, N.H. This does not mean it's ok to spend all the time you want in the sun as long as you have a cup of tea! The findings did not support any damage reversal for those who had experienced severe sunburns previously. The antioxidant EGCG has been shown to reduce burning on skin exposed to UV rays. A third of the study participants had basal cell carcinoma, another third had squamous cell cancer and the remaining third were cancer free men and women.

5. Oolong/Wulong Tea News As many people continue to search for help in their weight loss endeavors, Oolong tea, also known as Wu-Long tea, has unique polyphenols that help cells use glucose more effectively, which balances blood sugar. This is helpful because elevated blood sugar levels often result in body fat. A chinese study found that women who drank four large cups of Oolong per day lost three pounds a week. If you'd like to lose weight even faster, try green and oolong together, (one tea bag of each, or half green and half oolong loose tea). The EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) in green tea boosts metabolism, so the body burns two and a half times the number of calories in a day. Recent research has shown recent research has revealed that Oolong is unique among teas because it contains compounds called "polymerized polyphenols" that have such exciting health properties that Japanese researchers have already begun work on a tea with engineered levels of these polyphenols four times higher than normal oolong. - - - top - - -

7. Health News
Every individual variety of tea provides a load of polyphenols, but each type has slight variations on how it impacts your health. Another factor is the length of time you steep your tea, just touching the hot water with your tea bag will not produce the same levels of polyphenols as steeping for 3-4 minutes.
Research now shows that drinking tea can now protect against illnesses such as disease, some cancers, high blood pressure and Alzheimer's disease. Some flavonoids have been shown to reduce blood cholesterol levels. Some of these protect against the type of cholesterol that is prone to being deposited in arteries. Also, the artery lining is preserved, promoting better blood flow. Tea has also become associated with better blood pressure.
Studies show that tea may fight more than one type of cancer. The catechins found in green tea and the theaflavins in black tea contribute to killing breast cancer cells. Chinese and U.S. researchers recently published a study of 69,000 women 40-70. It indicated that regular consumption of green tea lead to a 37% reduced risk of developing cancer, compared to those who only occasionally drank tea.
Green or black iced tea may before going outdoors may offer some benefit against developing skin cancer. Teas compounds are even being considered for use in sunscreens.
If you are considering supplements containing tea, be aware that many contain only minimal amounts of tea. On the other hand, some supplements are too concentrated, according to studies by Rutgers University, which can actually lead to liver damage. For example, 10 cups of green tea a day is not too much, however, some supplements contain the same amount as 50 cups of tea! Just remember, that if you significantly increase your intake of green tea, since it increases your metabolic rate, it could cause to have trouble sleeping or give you a "wired" feeling if you drink more than the amount that's right for you.

Leading up to the festive season, everywhere you go, seasonal music is playing. Articles come out every day about the top 10 gifts for Christmas (which includes gourmet teas this year) or the most popular toys. As I get older, Christmas has become a time to fondly reflect on the people who are still here and those who are gone that made this season a special one for me. Every special memory includes good food, wonderful desserts, special treats and of course different varieties of tea. I often feel that because tea is such an uplifting experience, that it truly deserves a place in all these memories of a lifetime. May your holiday season bring you another collection of amazing memories again this year. No matter how busy you are at this time of year, take at least a few minutes, make a favorite kind of tea, and remember all those special times that that you will never forget. Happy Holidays, and may all your family and friends be happy, healthy and lucky enough to spend time with those they love over the holidays.
