1. Greetings from Tea Connexions:

Dear Tea Friends,

In less than 30 days Tea Connexions will be moving our head quarters from Saskatoon, SK to Kingston, ON. It has a been a busy past couple of months planning for our transition to a new city. Moving a business and family is certainly a challenge.

To ensure a smooth transition, we have partnered up with existing Distributors and formed two regional offices. In the U.S. we are working with the Jacksonville Tea Company, led by George Wilson. George is the President of Tea Connexions USA. George and I are also working on a brand new tea opportunity which will be launched very soon. In Canada, we are working with Mary-Ellen of Tessiers Tempting Teas. Mary-Ellen is the President of Tea Connexions Canada. These two partners will ensure that our customers receive their shipments on time.

In addition, relying on the expertise of George and Mary-Ellen, very soon Tea Connexions will be offering accessories to our Distributors and their customers. Our line has been identified and ordered. We are adding these to our Members store and soon these will be available for you to order from your local Distributor.

Tea Connexions has experienced tremendous growth over the years and this move is a step in the right direction to ensure that our growth can be sustained. Our new location will enhance our ability to offer better service to our Distributors and their customers.

To ensure smooth importing, lower transport costs, and constant supply, we will be setting up our main warehouse hub in Watertown, NY. We are also exploring the possibilities of setting up a seasonal Teaopolis in Clayton, NY, a beautiful tourist town during the summers. Kingston, ON, is also a beautiful area and we are hoping to set up a Teaopolis here very soon.

In the meantime, our head office in Kingston will continue to serve as the marketing and financial hub of the business. Once set up, we are also planning to launch several promotions in the US and Canada.

Next time you receive Tea4Free, we will be settled in our new home in Kingston.

On behalf of Tea Connexions, I wish to thank you for all your support over these years and for helping an ambitious entrepreneur live his teapreneur dream. I invite you to live your teapreneur dreams and join our ever expanding tea distribution family. To learn more about our unique tea opportunity, please visit www.leafteabiz.com.

Drink Tea and Prosper!

Yours sincerely,

Sanjay Gupta

2. Stressed? Try Black Tea
A study by University College London, shows that black tea affects the stress hormone levels in your body. Published in the Journal Psychopharmacology, the study showed that people who drank black tea 4 times a day for 6 weeks were found to have lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol in their blood after a stressful event, compared to those who had no tea. Both groups were subjected to challenging tasks, while their levels of stress were measured.

When measured both groups showed evidence of similar stress levels, however, 50 minutes after the task, cortisol levels had dropped by an average of 47 per cent in the tea drinking group compared with 27 per cent in the placebo tea group. So, now when it's referred to as a "relaxing" cup of tea, there may be some scientific proof to back up the claim!

3. Milk reduces Teas Benefits
A German study has found that tea can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, but ONLY if it is prepared without milk according to researchers at the Charite Hospital. Tea was shown to improve blood flow and arteries ability to relax, but when milk was added to the tea, it eliminated the protection against cardiovascular disease in a study at the University of Berlin in Mitte.

Dr. Verena Stangl, a cardiologist at the hospital, says "The beneficial effects of drinking black tea are completely prevented by the addition of milk". The doctor went on to say "If you want to drink tea to have the beneficial health effects you have to drink it without milk. That is clearly shown by our experiments". Tea is the second most consumed beverage next to water based on worldwide consumption figures.

7. The Mysterious origins of Earl Grey
Although Earl Grey is a favourite for many of us, it has become much more than a flavoured black tea. Many describe it as smoky, and fragrant with hints of citrus.

The citrus flavour comes from bergamot oil, which is made from a tree that is grown in the south of Italy. Somewhat like lemon, orange and grapefruit mixed together, the scent is often likened to orange blossom. It is picked before it ripens, then cold presses are used to extract the oil, which is then stored for a year. Bergamot can be used in aromatherapy to treat depression, and has been shown to have anti-microbial effects that can strengthen the resistance of the body to colds and illnesses.

This unique tea has a mysterious origin. One version of the story says Earl Charles Grey, the prime minister of Britain in 1830, was given the recipe from a mandarin he met while touring China. It was said that Earl Charles Grey then had his his tea supplier in London recreate the tea for him, with it subsequently being known worldwide. In that era, it was considered that tea produced "improper impulses" in women, and thus Lady Grey was invented. The belief was that the addition of fruit would calm the effects of tea, so Seville orange, lemon and bergamot extracts were added. Other versions of the discovery of Earl Grey say that Earl Charles Grey never visited China. It is still unclear, it's exact origin, but one thing is for sure, the view has certainly changed regarding tea's effect on women!

This issue of Tea 4 Free News - was written by Mary-Ellen Tessier. It is with great pride that I take on the duties of preparing the Tea4Free newsletter.

With Spring well underway, many of us are making a serious effort to take better care of our health.    For tea drinkers, it’s something we do anyway (simply because we drink tea).  It helps us to take better care of ourselves and green and oolong teas can help with weight loss.  It’s good for our circulation and helps control stress.  Depending on the kind of tea, there are many different benefits to our health.  So take heart, even if you feel you could be living a healthier lifestyle than you currently do, as tea drinkers, we at least know that our “habit” is one that only benefits our health.  Our experiences and many scientific studies continue to prove this everyday!

I hope my background in media, my many computer related positions and my experiences in the tea business help me to keep TEA4FREE TEAming with everything that interests you! Have a tea for me!. If you want to share any ideas or thoughts please email me directly.
